Patent database - Patents are a great and somewhat expensive way of being profitable from innovative ideas. Before we can seek to patent our own ideas, we need to search & make they are original.
Grant programs – These are two sister programs that work to make grant application easy for you. One is for federal grants (Federal Money Retriever) and the other is for everything else (GrantGate).
J.S. Bach’s tuning – I have implemented this tuning system on many pianos and have heard it on harpsichords as well. In my spare time, I also integrated the system into midi files (check it out) and I have used to re-temper electronic instruments as well. It works better (in my mind) than equal temperament ever will, and is a lot more fun to listen to.
Curved frets – True temperament necks feature curved frets for unlimited intonation possibilities. These guys have designed a modified version of the Bach Lehman tuning the you can read about above.
Steve’s Piano Service - Ok don’t worry, the link goes to the right place! The term “balaam’s ass” refers to a story in the Bible about a guy and his donkey which God enables to talk in order to warn him of impending destruction. To learn about this story in Numbers 22, click here. But the site is great for Piano tuning and repair questions, repair guides, parts, and any needs you might have. The owner is always helpful, and the site is great, minus the annoying midi files, and odd color scheme.
Bible Gateway – One of the best resources for online Bible study, reference, and concordance, featuring about translations in many different languages, including 21 in English.
How Stuff Works – One of my alltime favorite sites; pretty self-explanatory.
Crazy Instruments – “Home to unique, odd, ethnic, experimental and unusual musical instruments and resources.”
I work a lot in graphic design programs outside of the traditional programs my wife has on her mac, for example Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign. I have found a couple of alternatives that are free that I use for basic and beyond editing needs. Paint.net and the GIMP are the two main interfaces I like to use.
Plugged In Online – Reviews of music, television, movies, and games from a Godly perspective. Here, you get all the content listed in detail with the review: positive, spiritual, sexual, violent, crude/profane language, drug/alcohol content, and other negative elements. The reviews often relate scripture based themes that are prevalent, if any.
